The Tongil Group is spearheading efforts to support low-income children and teenagers in Seorak-myeon, Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do, Korea

The Tongil Group moves forward with supporting low-income children and teenagers.

The Tongil Group (Chairman: Yun-Gi Choi) hosted the starting ceremony for the “Hope Dream Project for Healthy Children” on the 4^th of this month, supervised by the AEWON.Volunteer Organization, the HJ World Peace Foundation, the Gapyeong International Center of Cultural Exchange and the Seorak Village Community.

The starting ceremony was held in the conference room of the Gyeonggi-do Gapyeong-gun Seorak-myeon law office, and was attended by the head of Seorak-myeon Tae-won Seo, the Chief of the Gapyeong International Center of Cultural Exchange, Hyeon-suk Jeong, a representative of the Seorak Village Community, Kyeong-tae Kim, the director of the AEWON.Volunteer Organization, Jeung-ja Kim, the secretary general of the AEWON.Volunteer Organization, Yeon-jin Kim, the vice president of the Tongil Group Public Relations Department, In-yong Ryu and 20 volunteer workers.

This project was selected as an aid program in 2018. The program gathers small portions of the employees’ salaries to be allocated for donations. The volunteers of this project are able to deliver side dishes to low-income children and teenagers with a worth of 15,000 ‎₩ (about 15 USD) every week for one year. This service receives its operating expenses from the Tongil Group.

The program of the starting ceremony progressed in the following order: orientation for volunteer workers, the Pledge of Allegiance to the nation, words of thanks from Vice President In-yong Ryu, a welcoming address by the head of Seorak-myeon Tae-won Seo and the presentation of the donation. After the ceremony, the volunteers went to take the side dishes and proceeded with the volunteer activity.

The head of Seorak-myeon Tae-won Seo said, “I am thankful towards the Tongil Group and their collected funds, which help the low-income children of Seorak-myeon.” He added, “The law office of Seorak-myeon will show their continuous interest in making sure that these children will be able to grow up brightly and happily.”....
